At the end of the first semester of the UK Master’s degree, after all the examinations and assignments were submitted, my friends and I suddenly planned a trip to the country in the Balkan Peninsula — Montenegro. Originally, I had never heard of this country, but it turned out to be an unexpected surprise during the amazing trip.
Nestled along the Adriatic Sea, Montenegro boasts dramatic landscapes despite its small size, from rugged mountains to sparkling coastlines, all within a short distance. History lovers can explore medieval towns and ancient monasteries, while outdoor enthusiasts can hike through stunning national parks or kayak along turquoise waters. And the charm of its welcoming people and delicious cuisine makes Montenegro a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
Kotor
Surrounded by magnificent mountains, Kotor is a town with pleasant and charming scenery. It is adjacent to the mountains above and the sea below. The attraction of tourist resources in this small town blessed by natural scenery cannot be underestimated. The restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and small bars along the bay are filled with romantic atmosphere.
Time-travel beckons within the stone walls of Kotor Old Town. Tucked into the dramatic embrace of Kotor Bay, this UNESCO World Heritage Site whispers tales of centuries past. Venetian architecture reigns supreme, from Gothic palaces to fortified ramparts clinging to the mountains. Narrow, cobbled lanes wind through piazzas bustling with cafes and shops, while ancient churches offer glimpses of Byzantine art. Each step feels like a journey through history, all culminating in breathtaking views of the azure bay.
A boat tour from Kotor Bay to fascinating scenic spots like Blue Cave and Our Lady of the Rocks is one of the highlights should not be missed.
Tivat
Tivat, a sun-kissed gem on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, offers a captivating blend of modern luxury and historic charm. Nestled on the picturesque Boka Bay, the town boasts a vibrant marina buzzing with yachts, contrasting with the serene pebble beaches perfect for relaxation. Explore the charming promenade lined with cafes and restaurants, or delve into the rich past at the Maritime Heritage Museum. For a touch of extravagance, wander through the Porto Montenegro, a dazzling superyacht haven, before seeking solace in the lush greenery of Pine Park.
Budva
Dance the night away in chic clubs, soak up the sun on pristine beaches, or indulge in fresh seafood at harborside restaurants. Budva is a vibrant tapestry woven with history, beauty, and an infectious zest for life.
Sveti Stefan
It’s a tiny island crowned by terracotta-roofed houses, linked to the mainland by a slender sandbar.
The meaning of travel is not only to have fun, but to explore spiritual dialogue and insights around the endless world.
