【Singapore Vision Program】Selected as one of the top 10 startups for business trip

In mid-2019, the startup team, “TransferHelper”, I joined had successfully chosen as “Taiwan Top 10 Startup Companies”, getting qualification for overseas business training and visiting Singapore to participate in “Vision Program” for a month. In addition to subsidy of 70,000 yuan/person for overseas business trip, it’s more important that we could obtain counseling and connections from investors and companies. It’s such a great opportunity for start-ups to expand overseas market! Also, Singapore is one of the international centers for financial development. Hence, I had lots of expectations for this business trip because the startup team I belonged to is mainly based on financial technology service. 😉
【Working Overseas】
The working schedule in Singapore was much different from my usual routine in Taiwan, because there were no fixed working hours and the working locations changed. Sometimes I got up early at 6:00 and rushed to a company for pitch, and sometimes I started pitching after 19:00. Occasionally, I even got lost in an unfamiliar office building🙈
In the first pitch, my partner and I were a little nervous, and didn’t answer very well under the last question from Angel Investors of Bansea, and thus after we went back, we immediately had a meeting to discuss improvements.
A few days later, we attended the second pitch which was unforgettably amazing because after we completed the pitch, many audiences came to praise us and were very interested in our products. The manager of Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology also discussed the market information with me, and gave me some suggestions on products, keeping encouraging me, which made me feel touched!
In the following month, our pitches became smoother and smoother, and eventually we were able to present successfully and freely, wouldn’t get panic in front of the audience, investors, and entrepreneurs on stage.
【Life】
Clean, safe, and innovative are my 3 major impressions of Singapore. Both roads and buildings have perfect planning so that people and cars have a good experience. In addition, there is no rubbish on roads, and buildings are new and spectacular like a future world. In terms of local people, they are very kind & polite and they can speak both Chinese & English, so communication is absolutely barrier-free!
Before I came to Singapore, I thought the life pace or walking speed here was very fast because it’s a country of financial business center. However, as far as I have observed, this is not the case. People seem to balance their lives quite well.
Life in Singapore is really easy (and monotonous sometimes), but it makes people feel very comfortable and convenient, and you can see people of all colors coexist harmoniously. If you have a great passion for “building design”, I believe Singapore is definitely worth your visit!
【Commercial Development】
Singapore is rapidly developing and progressing. Even if Singapore is not large, the development of buildings here is eye-opening and the financial technology industry is booming. Before launching a new product, it is necessary to conduct market research and analysis so the released products can be forward-looking & competitive. Therefore, marketing specialists play a significant role in Singapore and are in high demands. I believe Singapore’s marketing model is worth our visiting and learning!
